Robotics Club

retro looking robot
I obey Asimov’s Three Laws of Robotics! Yup. Totally.

Hey SOLE! Are you interested in:

  • Engineering?
  • Art
  • Computer programming
  • Conquering the world with your own army of shiny metal minions?

The first meeting of the first ever SOLE Robotics Club will be this Monday in room 325 (that’s the Tech Lab) at lunch. We’ll be planning, designing, and ultimately building battle bots and all things that go whir and beep. Everyone is welcome, no background knowledge required!

SOLE Student Council

Have your say! If you’re interested in joining the SOLE Student Council, our first meeting will be at lunch on Tuesday, Sept. 25th in room 325 (the Tech Lab). Everyone is welcome, and hey, it looks great on your post-secondary applications.

Exploring the Art Gallery of Ontario

Rachel’s Visual Arts and Photography classes visited the AGO to experience several of the special exhibits, include Rebecca Belmore’s Facing the Monumental, Kathe Kollwitz’s Art and Life, June Clark, and Joseph Beuys, the new J.S. McLean Centre, and old favourites such as the Henry Moore sculpture gallery. Students had time to explore, connect with, sketch, and photograph the art, and enjoy the great cafes and restaurants around the area.

Graduation 2018

SOLE bid farewell to our students who are moving on to the next big adventure. Students, families and friends, our staff, administration, and superintendent Mary Jane McNamara gathered to celebrate our graduates’ achievements, and valedictorian Casper gave a touching and entertaining speech.

It’s always hard to say goodbye, but we are so proud of our 2018 graduates! Best of luck in the future, and stay in touch!

And the Oscar goes to…

Our first SOLE Film Festival brought the fantastic work of our Film and TV Production students to the big screen. (Okay, the medium-sized screen in the Student Lounge.) We screened the films and students voted for their favourites. The winners are…

Funniest Film: “SOLE Office Intro” by Celeste C.

Best Script: “SOLE Silent Film” by Michael C.

Best Editing: “C+E” by Celeste. C. and Ella C.

Best Acting: James J. in “Skateboarding Doc.”

Best Picture: “Quality Suffering” by Casper F.

Congratulations to our winners and a huge thanks to all of our participants, willing or otherwise. 🙂
