Skills Ontario visit

Did you know that workers in the skilled trade and technologies are more in demand than any other sector? Did you know that there were a broad range of post-secondary options, including apprenticeships where you can get paid to learn, available to students leaving high school? Amy Kearns from Skills Ontario visited us to talk about these opportunities and more! In this exciting presentation, students got a glimpse of pathways and career possibilities that they may have never considered.Amy presenting to the class

SOLE students at Real Jobs

Students at SOLE attended the Annual Real Jobs Day: Careers in Commercial Real Estate For Women at the Ted Rogers School of Business (Ryerson University).  This one-day event was an opportunity for young women to learn more about opportunities in the commercial real estate field including urban planning, development, asset and property management, property valuation and appraisal, brokerage and leasing, engineering, law, and architecture. Our students had the chance to meet and network with senior women working in a variety of fields within commercial real estate.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Students at SOLE celebrated Thanksgiving with a feast and party in the Student Lounge. We had sliced turkey with gravy, mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, stuffing, broccoli, squash and apple, salads, plantain, pumpkin pies, apples pie, and squares brought by staff and students. Even the fire drill couldn’t stop us from stuffing our faces! Everyone had a great time, and some of us were in a food coma by the afternoon.
