Stitches For Survival

Last year, SOLE Crafting students contributed two panels to Stitches For Survival, a 1.5 mile scarf that went on display at the COP26 Summit in Glasgow. You can read more about the project here and here.

The climate crisis didn’t end at COP26, and neither did the journey of the scarf! One of the panels was recently featured at the Eco-Congregation Scotland’s Annual Gathering! This event takes place on Earth Day and brings volunteers from all over Scotland to find practical responses to the climate crisis, commit to Net Zero, and highlight the challenges of the climate emergency.

You can read more about the Annual Gathering here, and check out photos of the event below!

A closeup of the part of the scarf that features SOLE students' work. The panel is divided in 4. One panel has a killer whale that says "Free Kiska," one has an octopus waving a white flag, one shows an anime-style girl, and one shows a river with ice breaking up in it. Above the scarf is a powerpoint that says "Stitches For Survival" with a pair of knitting needles through an earth.

A huge thanks to Christine Thomson from Stitches For Survival for documenting the scarf’s journey!
