Have you ever wished for more excitement and adventure in your classroom? Be careful what you wish for! For two afternoons, Rachel’s Media Arts: Game Design class was transformed into an combat zone for Live Action Role Playing (LARP). Guest artists Jamie, Amber, and Myfanwy led two separate games. In the first, Tribunal, students took the roles of soldiers in a unit where two of their number had been accused of stealing bread…a capital offense! They had to decide who to protect, who to trust, and who to betray. In the second, The Forgotten, students played civilians in a besieged city as they struggled to forage for food and supplies over five harrowing days and nights. Both games were based on Nordic LARP concepts, a type of game that combines theatre, storytelling, and interactivity to create a collaborative, immersive experience where players work together to create a compelling story.
Thanks so much to our amazing guest artists for creating a truly unforgettable experience!
