Yesterday, SOLE celebrated our Semester 2 Honour’s Tea, which recognizes students on the Honour Roll (80% or higher average) at midterms and students who have made outstanding contributions to the school community. We’re so proud of all of you, and wish you the best for Term 2!

Yay! What a fantastic Open House! Last night, we showcased our program, facilities, and vibrant school community. Visitors commented on the friendly environment and warm reception. Food, activities and even green screen demonstrations were part of the event.
Thank you so much to all of our student volunteers! We also want to say goodbye to our York Teacher candidates, Miles, Dana, and Dragos, and our Community Worker-In-Training, Sam, who made such a positive impact on SOLE. They are always welcome here!

Dragos taught our World Cultures class how to cook Ginisang Upo, a Filipino dish featuring calabash, a type of melon. This tasty, unique dish was a hit with everyone!

In remembrance of the recent tragedy with the Broncos junior hockey team and to show support for Humboldt, Sask., today was Jersey Day at SOLE.
April 11, 2018 marks the International Day of Pink. It celebrates diversity and raises awareness to stop homophobia, transphobia, transmisogyny, and all forms of bullying. SOLE students and teachers broke out their pink clothes to make a stand for inclusive and safe spaces.
Nina was invited to compete for an entrance scholarship at Tyndale in March, and on Friday, her name was announced as the winner. They were very impressed by her in the interview and with her essay on a book she had read.
This award will open up more opportunities for Nina, as she will be sought out for some leadership opportunities. Also, her tuition will free next year! She is thrilled of course…and her family and all of us at SOLE are so proud of her!

Rachel and Christina’s World Cultures class made crepes. This French classic is easier than you think with the right equipment and/or a willingness to experiment. Ooh la la!
