The MPC East Gym is available for SOLE students to use on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:40-12:20. Play basketball, volleyball, or badminton!  Get your equipment from the Guidance office if you want to join in.

The Principal’s Honours Tea celebrates SOLE students with outstanding academic achievement, as well as those who  have contributed in positive ways to the school. We’re proud to share the joy of this occasion with students and their families! Congratulations to all of our award recipients!

Are you failing a course and don’t want it to show up on your transcript? The last day to drop a course is Monday, Nov. 26th. Talk to your teacher if you’re not sure whether you should drop, and talk to Karin to make sure that you are still taking enough courses to qualify as a full-time student.

SOLE opened its doors to prospective students, parents, and interested community members with an open house featuring tours, food, and a chance to talk to teachers and students about our program. Despite the inclement weather, we had a lively event. A huge thanks to our amazing student and parent volunteers for their hard work representing our school with spirit and enthusiasm.

Jared’s Grade 12 Law class facilitated a roundtable discussion on international law. Issues discussed included: What is the position of the United Nations on humanitarian and military interventions in cases of human rights abuses? What are the moral and legal imperatives to either intervene or not intervene? How does the international community balance the sovereignty of domestic law in individual countries with the need to take action on human rights abuses, e.g. LGBTQ rights in Russia?

Día de Muertos (The Day of the Dead) is a multi-day Mexican holiday celebrating friends and family members who have passed on. Its origins date back thousands of years to indigenous celebrations, and has spread throughout the world.

SOLE students learned about this fascinating cultural tradition with face-painting by a guest artist from OCAD and Mayan hot chocolate in the Student Lounge. A huge thanks to Sofia for her beautiful work!

The best part of Halloween is the costumes. Well, it’s also the candy, but we had plenty of both! Congratulations to the winners of our costume contest: Lewis, Dawson, and Rawmeen, and thanks to everyone who participated.

There’s one day left for Spooks Week: Day of the Dead. Join us in the Student Lounge tomorrow to watch Coco, participate in face-painting, and enjoy some Mexican hot chocolate.

SOLE students showed off their amazing pumpkin carving skills for the second day of our Spooks Week activities. Our winner will be announced tomorrow, so stay tuned to Remind and be sure to pick up your prize.
