Interested in attending SOLE for September? Our upcoming 2018-9 Registration Dates are:
- Friday, June 15 @ 10:00 am
- Monday, June 18 @ 9 am
- Thursday, June 21 @ 2:30 pm
- Tuesday, July 3 @ 1:00 pm
Anyone under 18 must bring their parent or guardian to the registration.

Election Day…have your say!
Are you over 18 and a Canadian citizen? If so, you have the democratic right to vote in the Ontario provincial election, and you should use it! You can vote up until 9 pm tonight. What is the Moratorium, and what does it mean for you?
You might have heard teachers talking about a “moratorium.” What is it? TDSB policy states:
during the moratorium period of four (4) days prior to the scheduled mid-term or semester and final exam days, there shall be no:
- excursions;
- assemblies (except in extenuating circumstances, i.e. violent incident, bereavement);
- shortened instructional school days;
- conferences or meetings that remove teachers from their schools;
- interschool activities;
- projects or assignments for students writing an examination
- culminating activities for students writing an examination;
- homework, other than outlined below.
Homework that is considered to be part of the systematic review and examination preparation process (such as review quizzes, sample examination questions, or practice tests) and that do not count for marks, may be assigned during the pre-examination moratorium period.

2018 Art Show Opening Gala
We had a spectacular opening gala for our fourth annual SOLE Art Exhibition. Students, staff, friends, family, and community members celebrated the incredible energy and creativity of our students, including photography, screenprinting, sculpture, illustration, and graphic design. Held at the beautiful Fresh Paint Studio, guests enjoyed food, a live DJ set by Nate, and a fabulous atmosphere.
The exhibition continues until Thursday, May 31st.

REEL Asian Film Festival @ SOLE
Rachel’s Film and Video class and guests saw an amazing presentation by filmmaker and photographer May Truong as part of the REEL Asian Film Festival. May shared her incredible life story and short film, The Outsiders, which reimagines the classic YA novel with female Asian characters.

SOLE End-Of-Year Art Show
Join us at Fresh Paint Studio (1849 Danforth Ave.) for our fourth annual SOLE Alternative Art Show!
Featuring photography, visual arts, graphic design, and sculpture from SOLE Alternative students. The show opens Thursday, May 24th from 6:30-9:30 with a live DJ and refreshments, and runs until May 31st. Admission is free and all are welcome! For more info, email rachel.rosen@tdsb.on.ca.
