And welcome to SOLE’s brand new location at Monarch Park C.I.! We hope you love the new facilities as much as we do!
This is your friendly reminder that the first day of school is Tuesday, September 5th. We will be meeting in Ferguson Hall on the main floor at 10 am. Don’t know your way around? No problem! There will be volunteers and signs pointing the way.
We look forward to seeing each and every one of you, and having an exciting school year!
The SOLE graduation ceremony is this Thursday, June 29 at 1 pm in the caf. If you are graduating, please come early! Call Debbie at 416-393-0756 or text Karin with the number of guests you plan to bring.
Rachel’s Game Design course hosted SOLE’s first ever Live Action Role Playing (LARP) game. Run by Jamie Snetsinger and staff members from Elegy: A Doompunk LARP, the cafetorium was transformed for an afternoon into a bunker during a zombie apocalypse. Students worked in teams to decide how the work would be divided–and who would be sent outside the safety of the bunker to scavenge for supplies.
In the end, we had a blast, and most of us survived to live another day after the end of the world! A huge thank you to Jamie, Ashley, Morgan, and Myvanwy for running such an exciting event.
Last night, students and teachers alike were transported to the tropics for the first ever SOLE prom: Prom in Paradise! We enjoyed music, a sumptuous feast, and signature mocktails amid tiki huts and surfboards. Thank you to everyone who helped make this an unforgettable evening…and stay tuned for more pictures!
Nominations for our 2017 valedictorian will open on Monday. If you are graduating this year, please submit the name of the student you want to give the valedictorian address at the grad ceremony. And yes, you can nominate yourself. The ballot box is in the SOLE office (rm 232).
We had a phenomenal opening night! Students, families and friends, staff, and members of the community attended a fantastic celebration of SOLE’s talented artists, designers, and photographers at Fresh Paint Studio. Enjoying great company, snacks, and punch, our students showcased their talent in a wonderful gallery setting. Thanks to everyone who came out, and a very special thanks to Roxane at Fresh Paint for hosting us.
If you missed the opening, or want to see it again, the show runs until June 1st. Hours and directions are available on Fresh Paint Studio’s website.
We spent the afternoon hanging the art, and we’re ready to go! Looking forward to seeing our students, staff, and school community at the grand opening tomorrow night at Fresh Paint Studio (1849 Danforth Ave.) from 7 to 10 pm. Remember, the show is up all week, so if you can’t get enough of our students’ artwork (and who could blame you?), you can visit the gallery until June 1st.
